Fort Washington, PA (June 20, 2005) - On Friday, June 17th Drs. Thomas Balshi and Glenn Wolfinger hosted a course on their trademarked Teeth In A Day protocol.
TUFTS University postdoctoral residents and faculty attended a Teeth In A Day course where they watched a 19 year-old patient with multiple dental and medical problems receive a brand new set of implant supported teeth that totally changed his smile. The patient was referred to the practice through of Pennsylvania, a local branch of the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped (NFDH). The NDFH is a national charitable organization solely dedicated to meeting the needs of citizens with physical, medical, and mental disabilities. relies on dentists to volunteer their services to provide comprehensive care to people who cannot afford needed treatment because of serious disabilities including impaired health.
Students also observed a patient receiving two single Nobel Direct implants that replaced congenitally missing maxillary canines. A representative from Imaging Sciences International demonstrated the i-CAT 3-D scanner and software. This permitted students to see the implant locations in 3-D images. A representative from Harvest Technologies explained about the SmartPReP platelet separator, which is used to make Platelet Rich Protein (PRP), the growth factor proteins that accelerate healing time for patients receiving dental implants. Nobel Biocare representatives from Massachusetts and Pennsylvania were also there to discuss Nobel's implant and procera products.
The dental implant components used during this academic meeting were provided by Nobel Biocare, USA, the world leader in dental implants.
The Institute For Facial Esthetics at the Institute for Facial Esthetics specializes in the reconstruction of missing, periodontally hopeless and severely decayed teeth. The center offers such advanced solutions as zirconium CAD/CAM crowns and bridges, but focuses primarily on Nobel Biocare's Brånemark System of dental implants, a procedure that enables patients once again to enjoy non-removable teeth. Implant procedures are supplemented with genetically engineered growth factors to accelerate the healing process. Patients enjoy immediate function with implants following either the Teeth In A Day or NobelClinician™ protocols. The Institute in Fort Washington is a major teaching center and source of research information about dental implants. |
