Course Overview:
This one-day course is targeted for the dental
assistant working in a surgical or prosthetic
dental implant practice. The course will
review treatment planning, terminology,
materials and components, sterile techniques,
instrumentation, Teeth In A Day surgical and
prosthetic protocol, Nobel Biocare's Guided
Surgery planning software, i-CAT Cone Beam CT
scan technology, post operative care and
long-term prosthetic maintenance.
Educational Goal:
To provide advanced implant placement and
restorative training procedures, including
Guided Surgery and Procera Planning Software,
for dental assistants. All phases related to
conventional Teeth In A Day and Guided
Surgery procedures will be discussed.
Educational Objectives:
- To discuss the treatment planning
concepts for Teeth In A Day and Nobel
Biocare's Guided Surgical protocol
- To discuss instrumentation, operatory
set-up, and sterile technique for Teeth in A
Day and Guided Surgical Procedures
- To provide clinical instrumentation
for assisting during implant placement
- To demonstrate and provide instruction
of Nobel Biocare's Procera Planning Software
- To discuss CAD/CAM technology and the
indications and applications of the i-CAT
Cone Beam CT scan technology
- To provide clinical instruction on the
prosthetic management of dental implant
patients and long-term maintenance of implant
reconstruction
Course Content:
- Discuss concepts of treatment planning
for the dental implant patient
- Assistant's role in implant placement
- Discuss approaches to Guided Surgical
Protocols
- Demonstration of Procera Planning
Software
- Demonstration of i-CAT Cone Beam CT Scan
Technology
- Place implant on mannequin

Hillerie Swinehart, EFDA has been practicing
as an EFDA in Prosthodontics for the past 8
years. She has worked at Prosthodontics
Intermedica since 2000, and has since been
involved with teaching courses in TEETH IN A
DAY and TEETH IN AN HOUR at the Institute
For Facial Esthetics.
